Dr. Pei joined CalciMedica in
October 2007, bringing 17 years of experience in drug discovery
research. Prior to CalciMedica, Dr. Pei worked at several pharmaceutical
and biotechnological companies, including Chiron, Cortex Pharmaceuticals,
Trega Biosciences, MitoKor and most recently Kemia, at positions
with increasing responsibilities. He has worked on research projects
for the discovery and development of ligands for GPCRs and ion
channels, as well as inhibitors of proteases and kinases in the
therapeutic areas of diabetes, neurological disorders and inflammation.
He played key roles in advancing compounds through the pre-clinical
and clinical programs for several disease indications..
Dr. Pei received his BS in chemistry
from Jilin University in China and Ph.D. in chemistry from State
University of New York at Stony Brook. He started his research
in drug discovery while working at Warner-Lambert as a post-doctoral
fellow. He was an author and inventor of more than 30 scientific
journal publications and patents.
